Kenneth Ferreira: Playing a Small Role in the Educational Journey of FPU Students

By: Ashley Hescock ‘20

Kenneth Ferreira, Assistant Vice President of Franklin Pierce Financial Services,  received the opportunity to discuss why New Hampshire college students have so much debt on the New Hampshire Public Radio.

“I endeavored to offer a positive outlook, for the last thing I ever want is a needy student, like I was, to feel that a college education is out of her or his reach, for that is NOT the case,” said Ferreira. He also wanted to emphasize the understanding of student’s financial situations, not only at Franklin Pierce, but at colleges everywhere.

“Over the course of my career, I have assisted students who are homeless, have parents that are incarcerated, have suffered the loss of a parent while enrolled in college—the scenarios are far and wide and all of them unique. 99.9% of the time we figure it out together,” said Ferreira.

Ferreira grew up in Salem, New Hampshire, but went to school at Notre Dame College, formerly of Manchester, NH and majored in English. He then furthered his education by receiving is master’s from River University in Nashua, NH. Ferreira currently lives in Londonderry, New Hampshire with his wife, two children and a beagle.

Ferreira has been working at Franklin Pierce since 2005. Along with overseeing the details of Student Financial Services, he is also the designated University student financial aid officer. He keeps close ties with students through meeting at open houses, orientations, and other campus events.

As dealing with finances is not an easy job, overall, Ferreira continues to focus on the students interest.

“I believe that higher education is an investment and the path to a better life and I am eager every, single day to help students make that dream become a reality. It’s a pleasure to play a small role in the educational journey of our students,” said Ferreira.
