After a solid performance in the most Republican debate, Ohio Governor John Kasich is moving up in the most New Hampshire primary polls.

Real Clear Politics reports that an average of recent poll numbers show Kasich currently in third behind frontrunner Donald Trump and Senator Ted Cruz in Republican presidential race. The growing support for Kasich is just in time for his upcoming town hall visit to Franklin Pierce where he will join the names of many other presidential hopefuls that have visited the University, including Ted Cruz and Rand Paul.

During his campaign Kasich has primarily boasted his lifetime experience in politics. He served in both the United States Congress and the Senate before becoming Governor of Ohio. As governor he worked to achieve a balanced budget upholding fiscally conservative values.

On socially liberal issues the governor was able to work in a bipartisan way to achieve better healthcare coverage and although he has not openly supported same sex marriage, he has not opposed it. The governor also tries to appeal to both Republicans and Democrats, as he is not afraid to work across the aisle and try to come together on common issues–a point he stated heavily in the most recent debate.

Franklin Pierce is pleased to host Governor Kasich and welcomes all students and the community to the town hall event on Tuesday, January 26 at 12:30 p.m. in Spagnuolo Hall. The event will run about an hour long with a chance to ask questions at the end.
