Sustainability Certificate students are creating a whole new world!! First, congratulations to the Sustainability Seminar students (and Res Life)!!
They have created FPU’s first GREEN DORM(s)!!!!
Mountainview “E” has two openings and Lakeview has one townhouse and one Efficiency available for Sustainable Living! What does this mean?? Well, if you are interested in living a sustainable lifestyle by consciously curbing your electricity, oil, water, and product consumption, check it out! Students are being encouraged to leave a minimal footprint on Earth through reduced use of un-renewable resources. This will alleviate not only their carbon footprint, but also the unsustainable crowding of landfills. Students will take part in educational programs to highlight activities that have worked sustainably, and those that just don’t! Please go to your Res. Life meeting on April 1st to learn more!
Also, on April 20th you will get a chance to see the Sustainability Showcase of projects taking place on campus! Students in the Sustainability Project course are working on such things as:
Eco-thon (Campus Marathon to raise money for Sustainability Issues)
Nature Writing for Non-profit
Campus Farm Water Catchment System
Student Retention and Social Sustainability
Exotic Species and their Effect on Endangered Species
There will also be exciting presentations from the Environmental Thought students, Environmental Science Students, and more!!!
So, set the date for April 20th from 12-2 in Pierce Hall, come have an eco-friendly lunch, participate in various campus clubs’ sustainability activities in front of the Library, meet members of the local community, meet local vendors, and then chow down on an eco-friendly BBQ outside in front of the manor at 4:30 while you listen to Morsoul (a band that students met in Colorado last Fall) who will be arriving from CO in their biodiesel bus and setting up stage over looking Pearly Pond!
Spring has Sprung!!!
